Memorial for Tom Fox in Berkeley

"Tom Fox, who stood in solidarity with Iraqis suffering due to the war, was found dead last week in Baghdad. He will be lovingly remembered by many in the United States, Iraq, and around the world. We will gather on Sunday to mourn for Tom, to appreciate his life and service, and above all, to continue his work of remembering and caring for the people of Iraq.

This meeting will be our opportunity to remember all who have suffered and died in this tragic war, and to allow persons of multiple faiths to voice their perspectives on Tom’s life, work, and death."

I have not written before of the capture and murder of Tom Fox, a Friend from Virginia who was serving in Iraq with the Christian Peacemaker Team, because I felt I had nothing to add that had not already been said on other blogs.

However, I was just asked by Max Hansen, the pastor of Berkeley Friends Church, to publicize this memorial service, if possible. I am happy to assist.

The death of Tom Fox has saddened many in the Bay Area. On the occasion of his death in Iraq, Berkeley Friends Church will host a meeting to memorialize both Tom and all the dead of the Iraq war.

When: Sunday, March 19, 5:00 PM

Where: Berkeley Friends Church (1600 Sacramento St., Berkeley, CA 94702)

Just a reminder, Robin-- when posting email addresses, you might wish to post them using the word AT (in caps) rather than the symbol (@), and the word DOT rather than the period. This helps keep "spiders" from sending spam to the email address... You might wish to change the post so as not to have Berkeley Friends' inbox fill with junk emails over time.

Otherwise, what a rightly ordered idea, to have Friends host and publicize memorials for Tom Fox.

Blessings,
Liz, The Good Raised Up

That is how they post it on their website, I just copied it. I will try to change it later, just to be more safe.
